Weiqi game table board

Weiqi game table board with boxes and game pieces, early Qing period. Both the unique table game board and the boxes are made from fine, dark and dense zitan wood. The Game pieces are made from shel fish (the white ones) and slate stone (the black ones). This is the first time a complete set consisting of all three members, viz board, boxes and game pieces, of weiqi has been offered for sale - and this set is the first - and so far the only one surfaced - made interily from zitan wood. A very attractive set, which were most likely made for use by super high ranking family, could be within the Imperial circles. The floating panel of the game table board is made from a single piece of wood - and each of the boxes are also made from single pieces of wood (and both from the same piece of timber).
